Lu Bu, learned about this news and his behaviour went erratic, he kept drinking until he was drunk and slept. On the other hand, Lu Bu's officer betrayed Lu Bu and went to join Cao Cao's army. They took Lu Bu's weapon and threw it down the castle walls it was a sign that Lu Bu was vulnerable. Cao Cao sized this opportunity and went to destroy Lu Bu.
